Christmas Time

When is the right time to decorate for Christmas? Is it on Christmas Eve, after Thanksgiving, or on October 31st when everyone is trick or treating?

The only thing that should matter is what makes you happy and when you have time during this busy season and what your own traditions are.

This year I have put five Christmas trees up but have not put my own up. I do  plan on putting my tree up and very much look forward to this.

On Black Friday, my aunt hosted a brunch for the family to get us together and some of the family had not seen each other in a very long time. After brunch, we pulled the decorations out and started putting up her tree. As we decorated the tree we shared different stories and enjoyed our time together.

This is something all of us will remember.

It is tradition for my aunt to decorate on Black Friday and it was extra special being able to help with this.

Every year I put my grandparent’s tree up. They host Christmas dinner and we decorate the house so it looks very beautiful for when everyone comes over. In previous years, they would get real trees so they would get them closer to Christmas. Now they have a pre-lit tree that we put up. Looking at the ornaments from the years brings back memories for everyone.

My mom makes the beaded angel ornaments and those are very special to all of us. I learned how to make the sewn Santa ornaments and spent a lot of time making those with my mom and aunt. Also, seeing my grandparent’s ornaments that mark different occasions in their lives is always special.

Decorating helps spread cheer throughout the season and can bring smiles to many faces. It is easy to get caught up in being busy and feeling overwhelmed but it is better to let the joy of the season find you. Decorate when it is best for you, follow traditions or start new ones! Just always remember the reason for the season and help be the light.

I would love to see your decorations and trees!

Share your pictures with me and what your traditions are!
